UK-based MEPS predicted that the global crude stainless steel output would reach the new history highs of 34 million tons in 2012, reflecting a rise of 0.8% from a year ago.

However, the growth rate of the Chinese crude stainless steel production may slow down. MEPS predicted that the country's crude stainless steel output may only rise slightly by 1.1% to 14.30 million tons this year.

Meanwhile, MEPS forecasted that the global crude stainless steel output may rise another 3% to hit 35 million tons in 2013.
